TherapY Offerings
Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation.
Healing is an act of communion.

About Me
Welcome! I’m so proud of you for taking this courageous step towards healing, self-love and growth.
I am a Limited License Therapist with 20 years of experience in mental health, expressive arts, youth programming and community building. I am deeply committed to individual and collective healing and liberation, holding a safe container where you can share your full, unfiltered truth without judgment.
I want to support you in reclaiming your power, prioritizing your needs, setting boundaries, and taking up space instead of shrinking yourself. This is your season for healing and growing into your fiercest and softest self. I am here to cheer you on, hype you up and hold you accountable to the changes you want to create.
Together we will build on your strengths and work to transform your limiting beliefs about yourself into empowering beliefs, moving from negative self-talk to self-love and compassion.
Areas of Focus
I am particularly passionate about/experienced in supporting those:
Navigating pregnancy, postpartum and parenthood (especially birthing people who are high risk, experiencing infertility or other challenges in getting pregnant and having children)
Healing from sexual violence, intimate partner violence, emotional abuse and/or childhood trauma
Seeking support around love, sex, romantic relationships, non-traditional family structures, Queerness and/or gender expression
Wanting to love themselves and their bodies better; desiring practices for radical self-love and body liberation
Living with chronic illness, chronic pain and/or disabilities
Exploring cultural and/or racial identity (independently and also within interracial/multicultural relationships, friendships, parenting, etc)
Experiencing micro-aggressions, policing or punishment within their communities for speaking out against genocide
I offer individual counseling sessions. I see adults of all ages and have extensive experience working with young adults (18-25).
LOCATION & Availability
I'm accepting new clients for in-person sessions in Ann Arbor (Tuesday/Friday), as well as virtual video sessions (Monday/Thursday.)
I practice out of Dr. Karin Arizala's office which is conveniently located in downtown Ann Arbor on Liberty near Roos Roast and Avalon Cafe.
The office is a beautiful, therapeutic space, full of natural light and plants. I will have tea, cozy blankets, crystals and fresh flowers for you!
cost & Insurance
I am in-network for Blue Care Network, BlueCross and BlueShield, and Medicare.
My private pay rate is $160/hour- for those who can’t afford it, I can work out sliding scale payment. Therapy should be accessible to all so please reach out if cost is a barrier so we can try and find a rate that’s comfortable for you.
If I don’t take your insurance and my private pay rate is too high, I’d encourage you to check out Open Path Collective to find sliding scale private pay therapists in your area.
I believe in reparations, LandBack and the Jewish values of tzedakah (donating) and chesed (loving kindless). I put 10% of proceeds towards paying Indigenous land taxes, donating to Black and Indigenous-led healing organizations, and supporting mutual aid efforts in Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Congo, Haiti and other areas where folks are experiencing genocide and oppression.
Next Steps
If my approach feels aligned with your needs and values, please reach out and we can connect to see if we’d be a good fit for each other! Email me at zipora.ray@gmail.com to set up a free 15 minute consultation.
MODALITIES & Approaches
In addition to talk therapy, I love using embodiment (generative somatics, mindfulness, meditation, etc) as a tool to get out of our heads and into our bodies and hearts, allowing emotions to be felt and processed to ease anxiety and move through grief.
Additionally, as a poet who has experienced deep healing from creative expression, I am excited to support your healing journey using narrative therapy and art therapy to tap into different parts of yourself.
If you are a nature lover, we can explore using floral therapy, plant medicine, crystals, earthing, etc.- weaving natural elements into your sessions. When the weather is warm, we can go on walks in the woods while having our sessions if being in nature is healing for you.
Frameworks & Philosophy
I approach therapy from a trauma-informed, healing-centered, decolonial lens, recognizing that we are not only impacted by interpersonal trauma but also by systemic oppression- we carry the trauma (and resilience) of our ancestors and communities.
I believe our identities are a huge part of how we experience the world and that difference should be acknowledged rather than ignored in the therapeutic space. I am a white, cis, queer, anti-zionist Jewish woman. I am a sexual assault survivor, living with chronic pain and illnesses- both of these experience have given me deeper empathy for folks carrying emotional and physical trauma in their bodies. I am also a single momma with a non-traditional family structure. While I hold some marginalized identities, I also hold many privileged identities. I know that no matter how much anti-racist work I engage in, the work is never done- I need to continue interrogating my implicit biases and dismantling white supremacy within myself and my communities. I have worked with folks from all different backgrounds and feel confident supporting diverse folks across differences in culture, race, age, sexuality, gender and other identities.
I practice radical, relational therapy rooted in intersectional feminism, rather than the traditional model where the therapist is a blank slate and the client looks to them for guidance- I believe if I expect vulnerability from you, I must model it myself. You are the expert of your own lived experience, so I will lovingly push you to come to your own realizations rather than being prescriptive. I value feedback and will encourage you to let me know what’s working and what isn’t so we can ensure this therapy experience is everything you need.
